Expedition to the Future – Day 1: Arrival in Geneva, the Science Heart of Our Civilisation
Our journey to the future has officially begun! Early this morning, students from RTU International School of Science and Technology left Riga and flew to Geneva, with a short stop in Frankfurt. We have now arrived in Switzerland – the country that is home to CERN, the science heart of our civilisation.
Travelling to a Place of Discovery
Even though we had an early flight, everyone was excited and full of energy. When we landed in Geneva, we went straight to the campus and found our hotel. It felt great to finally be here, in a place where science, ideas, and international cooperation come together.
Lunch Where Scientists Eat
For our first meal, we went to Restaurant #1 at CERN – the same place where scientists from all over the world take their lunch break. It was a special feeling to sit there, knowing we are walking in the footsteps of people who are trying to understand the universe.
Exploring Our Surroundings
In the afternoon, we had free time to explore. Some of us went to Lake Geneva, others walked through the quiet streets, enjoying the views of the Alps. The city is peaceful, clean, and full of history – a perfect place to begin our expedition.
A Gentle Start to a Big Adventure
Today was about arriving, resting, and opening our eyes to this new environment. It’s just the beginning, but already we feel that we are part of something bigger. We are standing near the centre of scientific progress.
Stay with us as we take our next step into the world of particles, physics, and the future.
